What to See in Spain: Cities, Beaches and Wild Parties

One of Western Europe’s most visited countries and one that is extremely popular with tourists at all times of year, working out what to see in Spain, given its size and variety can be tough. Knowing where to kick-off a tour, trip or visit can be particularly hard if you haven’t considered your options. Spain’s beaches, cities and events all offer very attractive options, none of which you should be particularly prepared to snub. Read on and plan ahead.

Cities to Lust Over

Much like the rest of Europe, Spain is home to gloriously beautiful cities full of excitement and enchantment for all. Many of these cities are full of classic architecture, interesting attractions and buzzing nightlife. Quite rightly, most visitors to Spain barely resist a trip to Catalonia and the stunning city of Barcelona. There waits some of Spain’s most significant landmarks in buildings like the Sagrada Familia and the giant soccer stadium of the Nou Camp. Elsewhere the country offers great options for what to see in Spain in cities like Madrid, home to the Prado and Sofia Galleries, and other locations like Seville, Salamanca and San Sebastian. You should time your visit to Spain’s cities in view of the weather and climate for the time of year you wish to go.

Where to Catch Some Sun

Spain’s amazing summer weather, cheap and modern resorts and wild nightlife make its beach-side towns and cities a top drawer for visitors from all over. Head to the south of Spain and particularly the region of Andalusia and you’ll find stunning towns like Marbella and Malaga, beset with clean beaches and thriving city centres that offer great restaurants and cafes that remain open all day, everyday in the summer months. If you’re looking for something a little more tranquil then don’t forget that Spain has plenty of options in the north in places like Galicia and San Sebastian too. When planning what to see in Spain just remember to really hone in what you’re looking for. In terms of beach towns Spain is just as varied as it is with everything else.

Parties and Events

With events and parties to make even a frat-house quiver, Spain is a top drawer when it comes to attracting visitors thanks to curious rituals like La Tomatina and the Running of the Bulls. Such festivals, which take place annually, attract thousand of people each year all clambering to get in on the action and hurl tomatoes, or run away from raging bulls, just like the rest of them. Yet the fun doesn’t stop there. Spain also has interesting festivities surrounding the week of Easter and various carnivals, like the one in Cadiz, that attract revelers looking for the best in what to see in Spain each year.
