Reform School Was An Opportunity To Alter The Path I Was On

When I was a youth, I was a ripe candidate for reform school. My family was always extremely loving to me when I was growing up, but I still ended up in trouble. But growing up where I did in a small town in Missouri, it’s hard not to get bored and get into trouble. Everybody drinks where I hail from; it’s part of the lifestyle. From the moment I entered high school, I spent my weekends with a cool beer in my hand.

Things were not too terrible while I was only drinking beer, but when I was about sixteen, I found myself hitting the hard stuff. It was my neighbor, Kip who got me drunk on whiskey for the first time when he kindly offered me his flask. I ended up really hammered and passed out under a table when I spent the rest of the night. I should have taken some time to re-evaluate my life and my habits, but I didn’t.

Whiskey was only the beginning, as soon enough I wasn’t seen on weekends without a bottle of sherry in my hand. Then, I started imbibing during the week, even showing up at school a couple times drunk. My family tried to get me to speak to them about what was going on, but I ignored their attempts to help because they wanted to send me to reform school.

As bad as it was, though, booze was the least of my difficulties. At a different party about a year after I had started drinking hard liquor, someone, I don’t even remember who, brought some cocaine. I was an idiot because I didn’t stop to consider my actions. My spare time consisted of eating, drinking, and trying to get a hold of drugs. I was a wreck, and I can barely remember what life was like back then.

I was even able to finish my high school studies and apply to college. I fit right in with the hard partying crowd and was drunk nearly every night. College was a different game than high school and I was shortly kicked out. I was in terribly bad condition, and my life was really at rock bottom. I was in such bad shape that everyone I knew got together for an intervention that put me in my place and triggered my transformation. Now, after all this drama, I am free from drugs and alcohol. I look back with a lot of regrets and one of the biggest is that I didn’t take the chance to go to a therapeutic boarding school when it was suggested to me.

You can find more crucial information if you go along the link at reform school and also through boarding schools for troubled boys.
